Keep an eye out and do not miss the next instalment.”- Dance Informa Image by Emma Fishwick Emma is a dance and theatre performer, maker,&nbsp; choreographer, movement director, and educator living and working in Warrane, Sydney, Australia. Her practice is rooted in contemporary dance and theatre, blending humour with highly physical movement, and is shaped by her nomadic youth across regional Queensland, ACT, WA and New South Wales. Drawing from her working-class and regional upbringing, Emma uses dance to explore the systems that shape us, questioning and reimagining the ways we move through the world. Emma seeks to challenge dominant narratives, and create work that is seriously unserious and resonates with both personal and collective experiences.&nbsp; As a queer woman living with chornic illness, she is interested in whose bodies, experiences and perspectives are represented on Sydney stages. These experiences shape the questions of gender, power, and access, that run through her choreography, and the kinds of stories she wants contemporary dance to hold.Emma works independently and collaborates with choreographers and directors across Australia and is part of the Artistic Directorate of Dance Makers Collective. As a choreographer, Emma was commissioned by Campbelltown Arts Centre to create 'High Octane', her first full-length ensemble work, 2025, brought back for a sold-out season for Sydney Dance Company’s INDance 2026. She created ‘Top Dog’ on 23 young people for Sydney Dance Company Pre-professional year, premierering at Carriageworks. In 2024 her dance theatre solo work ‘Wolverine’ was commissioned by Sydney Festival 2024 (festival dir. Olivia Ansell) at the Walsh Bay Arts precint and she choreographed and performed in ‘Arlington’ by playwright Enda Walsh, directed by Anna Houston at the Seymour Centre. Emma’s other choreographic works have been presented by Dance Makers Collective Big Dance 2.0, March Dance Festival at Brand X, Art Month Sydney at Firstdraft gallery, Ausdance, Bondi Festival, Crack X Festival, Strut Dance WA, Sydney Fringe Festival, and DirtyFeet Out of the Studio. In 2025 Emma was an ATLAS scholar at Impulstanz Festival in Vienna, Austria, mentored by Christopher Matthews.&nbsp; Performance highlights include Marrugeku’s ‘Cut the Sky’ (dir. Rachael Swain, choreographed by Dalisa Pigram &amp; Serge Aimé Coulibaly), ‘The Lost Boys’ (Little Eggs Collective, dir. Miranda Wheen for Sydney Festival 2020, 2025 and National touring) “Cue Lab’ (choreographer Emma Riches) and Tra Mi Dinh’s ‘(UP)HOLDING’. It was a time when the internet was only just blooming, decorated excess reigned, and success felt like something you could grab if you wanted it badly enough. For most of us, wanting it was never enough and the hustle, the grind, the need to prove yourself over and over becomes the fuel for survival. For me, High Octane is a noughties period piece that dissects class, ambition, and consumption culture, how they were packaged and sold to us then and how they still echo today. It’s gritty, relentless, and steeped in the mannerisms of my regional upbringing. I grew up with unstable housing; 19 houses and counting, and no more than a year or two in each place. I revelled in the possibility of transcending the social status bestowed upon me just by virtue of being born at that time, to those people. The work is a love letter to my loud, bogan, revhead family who live fast and die young, who ride the line between desperation and aspiration, constantly fighting with no winner in sight. Hard work and endurance sit at the core of High Octane, not as something glamorous, but as something necessary. It is high-energy and highly physical, the dance charging forward with unrestrained momentum, pushing our bodies to exhaustion, testing what it means to keep going when the odds are stacked against you. The work is garish and loud, it moves fast and doesn’t wait for you to catch up. Like the endless laps of the Bathurst 1000, it refuses to stop, demanding attention, demanding more. I want you to feel what it means to keep moving even when the road stretches endlessly ahead. Choreographer/director:&nbsp;Emma Harrison Sound designer: Amy FlanneryMentor/dramaturg: Adriane Daff In PEST, I want to investigate “invasive species” and their slow violence on both bodies and land, drawing together lived experiences and broader socio-political landscapes. These include my experience with endometriosis as a chronic, invasive illness; the absurd, cartoon-like yet destructive spread of cane toads in Australia that I experienced growing up in regional Queensland; and the extractive logic of mining and capitalism, embodied by Australia’s Gina Rinehart. I see all of these as forms of invasion and toxicity. Foreign elements that creep in, grow wildly, and eventually poison their host. Through this lens, I want to explore the body and the land as parallel colonised spaces: sites of ownership, regulation, and conquest. Sites of minimal invasion. Some of the questions I am working with are: What is the line between pervasive and invasive? What does it mean for the body to be invaded, regulated, or exploited? When does something familiar, ordinary, or even necessary tip into excess, toxicity, or danger? What does it mean for something to be ‘minimally invasive’? Early ideation of this work was mentored by Christopher Matthews as part of the ATLAS choreographic scholarship at Impulstanz Vienna.&nbsp;
